Mayor Guo to appeal amid preventive suspension

Bamban Mayor to Appeal Ombudsman’s Preventive Suspension

Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Tarlac is planning to file a motion for consideration following the preventive suspension imposed on her by the Office of the Ombudsman. In a recent interview, Guo’s legal counsel, Stephen David, reiterated her innocence and expressed confidence in the integrity of the Ombudsman.

David denied allegations that Guo was involved in a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) firm called Zun Yuan Technology Inc. He clarified that she was not an incorporator of the company and had divested her ownership of the land where the POGO operated before the elections.

According to David, the regulation of POGOs falls under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), and the operator in question had a provisional license. He emphasized that Guo had no involvement in the operation as it was already being monitored.

The legal team representing Guo plans to submit their appeal on Thursday. Despite calls for Guo to undergo a DNA test to prove her citizenship, David maintained that she is a Filipino and challenged her accusers to provide evidence to the contrary.
