Maintaining makeup in hot and sweaty conditions: Insights from a Korean makeup artist

In a recent event organized by the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) and Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office (KTO-Manila), a South Korean makeup artist shared tips on how to make makeup last in the humid weather that plagues the country.

The makeup artist, Hwaju, acknowledged that makeup melting due to sweating is inevitable, but emphasized the importance of knowing how to correct it. She recommended using waterproof products and sealing them with matte powder, especially on oily areas. Additionally, she advised using a kitchen towel to wipe off sweat, as it is thicker and more absorbent than a regular tissue.

Hwaju, who has worked with K-drama stars like Go Ara, highlighted the significance of tapping sweat off the face instead of sliding the tissue. The event, called “K-Beauty Hangout,” was held in SM Aura, Taguig on April 12 and is part of the celebration leading up to the “Korea Beauty Festival 2024” in Seoul from May 31 to June 30. This festival is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and Visit Korea Committee.
