Gonzales shifts focus to future challenges post JPGT Iloilo victory



A young golfer from the Philippines is making waves in the sport with her impressive performance in the Junior PGT Iloilo Visayas Series. Cailey Chanelle Gonzales, an 11-year-old golfer, showed her talent and potential by dominating the girls’ 10-12 age division in the regional series’ kickoff leg.

Gonzales, who is an incoming Grade 6 student at De La Salle-Zobel, expressed her dreams of winning an international competition and studying in the US to compete with the world’s best golfers. Her recent victory in the Iloilo Golf Club, where she posted scores of 74 and 75, solidified her position as a rising star in the sport.

Inspired by golfing greats Yuka Saso and Rory McIlroy, Gonzales is set to compete in the upcoming Junior World in San Diego, showcasing her determination and commitment to her dreams. Despite her young age, Gonzales has already made a name for herself in the local junior golf scene.

The Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. continues to provide a platform for young golfers like Gonzales to hone their skills and talent through developmental circuits and nationwide tournaments.
