DepEd to investigate teacher accused of hitting 3 students in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has launched an investigation into a teacher who allegedly hit three Grade 9 students in Lubao, Pampanga, after a video of the incident circulated on social media.

In the video captured by another student in the classroom, the teacher can be seen physically hitting the students with her hands.

DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa announced the formation of an investigative team to look into the matter during a radio interview on Radyo 630.

The teacher has since apologized for her actions, and the division office has reached out to the parents of the affected students. The teacher has also taken a personal leave.

Poa emphasized the importance of due process in handling the case, stating that the teacher will have the opportunity to explain her side of the story.

“We also remind the public that we really need to afford due process to the teacher so she can explain why that incident happened,” Poa said.

The central office of DepEd will oversee the investigation, which is being fast-tracked in response to the seriousness of the allegations.
