Department of Justice considers moving Quiboloy’s Davao cases to a different court

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has requested the Supreme Court (SC) to transfer the case of doomsday preacher and Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy from Davao City to a different court, according to DOJ spokesman Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano.

During a palace briefing on Thursday, Clavano revealed that the cases against Quiboloy and his associates have been transferred from Davao to Pasig City. However, due to the heavy case load in Pasig City, the case might be moved to a Quezon City court.

Quiboloy and his associates are facing charges of child abuse and sexual abuse offenses, with cases filed in the Davao City court. A warrant of arrest was issued against Quiboloy and his associates on April 3.

In addition, a non-bailable qualified human trafficking case is pending before the Pasig City court, which issued a warrant of arrest on April 11.

The DOJ had sent a letter to the Office of the Court Administrator, a body under the SC, requesting the transfer of venue for cases filed in Davao City. However, SC’s spokesperson Camille Ting stated that the high court has yet to issue a resolution for the transfer of the preacher’s case.

Apart from the charges in court, Quiboloy also has a warrant of arrest from the Senate for failing to appear in a probe regarding the alleged abuses of the KJC.
