Cultural Center of the Philippines Celebrates 54th Founding Anniversary with Gala Concert
In honor of its 54th founding anniversary, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is hosting a gala concert titled “Anywhere We Sing Is Home: The CCP’s 54th Anniversary Gala”. The event showcases the talents of world-class artists who have been a part of the center’s rich history and artistic achievements.
Despite the ongoing rehabilitation of the CCP Main Building, the celebration continues with performances by renowned artists. The gala concert will take place on September 9 at 8 p.m. and September 10 at 3 p.m. at the Samsung Performing Arts Center in Circuit Makati.
Directed by Floy Quintos, the concert features exceptional talents from the Philippines. Actress Joanna Ampil, known for her roles in various musicals on the West End and international stage, takes the lead. Ampil has performed in iconic productions such as Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Cats.
Another highlight of the concert is Sheila Francisco, the first Filipina to perform at London’s prestigious National Theater. Francisco has gained critical acclaim for her roles in musicals such as South Pacific and Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress. She is also an acclaimed film actress, having received recognition at notable film festivals around the world.
Aicelle Santos-Zembrano, a well-known recording artist, concert performer, and actress, will also grace the stage. Santos has been a mainstay in live musical variety shows on television and has performed in notable productions like Miss Saigon and Rak of Aegis.
Gerald Santos, the grand champion of Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 2, is another talented performer participating in the concert. Santos has been recognized with multiple awards for his performances and has played prominent roles in productions like Miss Saigon and San Pedro Calungsod The Musical.
Arman Ferrer, a classically-trained singer and sought-after musical theater actor, will showcase his talents as well. Ferrer has received numerous awards for his performances and has played lead roles in various productions, including Lapu Lapu and Pasyong Pilipino.
Gab Pangilinan, known for her roles in Ang Huling El Bimbo the Musical and Mula Sa Buwan, will also join the line-up of performers. Pangilinan has established herself as a leading lady in the theater industry and has received international recognition for her work.
Actor-performer Reb Atadero completes the roster of notable performers for the gala concert. With a career spanning 17 years, Atadero has worked with esteemed theater organizations and has been recognized for his outstanding performances.
