X now conceals your liked posts from other users

Social Media Platform X Hides Likes in Latest Update

New York – In a recent update, the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has made a significant change by hiding likes. The engineering team at X announced that they would be making likes private for all users in order to better protect privacy.

As of Wednesday, users are still able to see their own likes, but others will not be able to view them. This update has removed the “Likes” tab from other users’ profile pages, making it only available on a user’s own profile page.

Users also received a pop-up notification suggesting that liking more posts will enhance their “For you” feed. The engineering team confirmed that like counts and other metrics for a user’s own posts will still appear under notifications, but the list of users who liked a post will only be visible to the author.

Previously, the option to hide likes was only available to paying Premium subscribers. X had announced this feature in September with the intention of allowing users to keep certain likes private by hiding the likes tab.

These changes are part of a series of updates that have come to the platform since billionaire Elon Musk acquired it for $44 billion in 2022. Other changes include reevaluating blue checks for non-Premium users and addressing content moderation concerns.

While some users have embraced these changes, others have expressed concerns about misinformation, content moderation, and hate speech on the platform. X continues to navigate user and advertiser feedback as it evolves under Musk’s leadership.
