Tree falls on tricycle in Legazpi City, injuring driver and boy

Two individuals were injured on Saturday after a tree fell on their tricycle in Barangay Homapon, Legazpi City. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. due to continuous rains brought by Tropical Depression Aghon.

The victims were identified as Fredel Bercilla, 30, the driver, and a 12-year-old boy from Barangay Imalnod in Legazpi City. Bercilla was reported to be in critical condition, while the boy was unconscious. They were both taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to village chief Beberlyn Bitancur, two other passengers, who were minors, escaped unharmed from the accident. Albay province had been experiencing moderate to heavy rains since Friday morning due to Tropical Depression Aghon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued an “orange” rainfall warning for Albay and Sorsogon, which could lead to flooding and landslides in high-risk areas. As of the latest bulletin, Aghon had slightly weakened but was still moving west-northwestward. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised in several areas in Luzon and Visayas.
