Two Filipino Teams to Represent the Country in Esports World Cup

Team Liquid Echo PH and Falcons AP Bren are set to compete in the first-ever Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The teams secured their spots in the tournament after finishing first and second in the recent MPL Philippines Season 13.

The Filipino gamers will participate in the Mid-Season Cup (MSC) of the Esports World Cup, with Onic Indonesia as the defending champion. Both teams have dedicated extensive time to training for the event, with Falcons AP Bren’s Vincent “Pandora” Unigo sharing that they have been training for three to four weeks straight.

Keith Medrano of MPL expressed confidence in the Filipino teams’ chances to excel in the competition, highlighting the country’s previous success in world championships. He emphasized the strong competition in the MSC but believes that the Philippines still has a significant opportunity to emerge victorious.

The Esports World Cup will feature 21 different video game titles and participants from various countries, including Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Brazil, and more. A substantial prize pool of $70 million will be up for grabs during the tournament.

Liquid Echo PH and Falcons AP Bren will advance directly to the group stage phase of the Mobile Legends competition, where 16 teams will be divided into four groups. The tournament format includes single round eliminations, knockout stages, and finals, with the ultimate champion taking home a $1 million prize.
