October 30 Declared as National Day of Charity

MANILA, Philippines — In a recent announcement, October 30 has been officially declared as the “National Day of Charity” in the Philippines. The Presidential Communications Office made the declaration as part of the government’s efforts to promote and improve the lives of Filipinos as part of a new vision for the country.

The proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 13, named October 30 as the National Day of Charity and directed the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to lead and supervise the commemoration. The PCSO has been recognized for its commitment to providing medical services, conducting free clinics, and partnering with various government and non-government organizations to support marginalized sectors of society.

All government agencies, including government-owned corporations and state universities, are encouraged to observe the National Day of Charity. Local government units, non-government organizations, and the private sector are also urged to participate in this initiative.

The proclamation emphasizes the importance of compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility in building a better society. It draws on the Constitution’s mandate to promote a just and dynamic social order for national prosperity and independence.

The National Day of Charity will be celebrated annually on October 30 to highlight the significance of giving back to those in need and supporting the welfare of all Filipinos.
