DOH OIC Directs Upgrading of Soccsksargen General Hospital From Infirmary to Level 1 Hospital

To ensure the accessibility of quality healthcare services for the people in the community, OIC Health Secretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire inspected the readiness of SOCCSKSARGEN General Hospital (SGH) to upgrade from an Infirmary Hospital to a Level 1 Hospital, in order to accommodate more patients and expand service provision to neighboring areas.

During the inspection, the OIC, together with key officials from the DOH Central Office and Regional Office, went around the hospital’s facilities, ensuring the completeness of equipment to manage a wide range of diseases, and to ascertain the adequacy of manpower required to care for more patients and operate a level 1 hospital.

Determining the readiness of the hospital, as well as recognizing the congestion in other hospitals in the province and the need for more facilities to be able to cater to more patients, the OIC directed the hospital administration and the leadership of the Region XII Center for Health Development to facilitate the immediate upgrading of SGH to a level 1 hospital.
