The cantata, known for its compilation of 240 poems about everyday life and the harmony of existence, will be brought to the stage with the majestic music of Carl Orff.

Reyes, a pioneer of the Bayanihan Dance Company, expressed her excitement about bringing back “Carmina Burana,” which premiered in 1975 to great acclaim. The timeless quality of the piece allows it to be danced by any generation, making it a cherished classic.

The new restaging of “Carmina Burana” will feature live music by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philippine Madrigal Singers, with guest soloist Lara Maigue. The production will also showcase sets and costumes created by the late National Artist for Theater Design, Salvador Bernal.

In addition to “Carmina Burana,” the performance will include other notable pieces such as “Dugso” and “Summer’s End,” promising a dynamic showcase of the company’s talent. The show is set to open on July 14 at the Samsung Performance Arts Theater in Makati City, with limited engagements on July 15.

Tats Manahan, president of Alice Reyes Dance Philippines (ARDP), revealed that the Philippines is one of the 80 locations worldwide where “Carmina Burana” will be performed next year. The show promises to be a magical experience, inviting choirs to watch and learn from its choral pieces.
