More than 4,000 4Ps beneficiaries successfully become licensed teachers

Over 4,000 4Ps beneficiaries now licensed teachers

More than 4,000 student-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) have successfully become licensed professional teachers, announced the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This achievement, according to DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao, underscores the positive impact of 4Ps in enhancing the educational attainment of its beneficiaries and promoting investments in the education of children from poor households.

Since monitoring LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) takers among 4Ps recipients, the program has seen a total of 1,225 elementary-level and 3,129 secondary-level education graduates passing the LET. Notably, some of these former 4Ps beneficiaries emerged as topnotchers in the March 2024 LET, including Khane Jevie Rose S. Cervantes and Jennifer G. Manrique for the Elementary Level, and Christian Albert B. Paskil, Clarence Joy D. Salmorin, Jellian H. Calipes, and Joanne E. Cagata for the Secondary Level.

The 4Ps program, modeled after conditional cash transfer schemes in other developing nations, provides cash grants to the poorest households on the condition that they fulfill specific program requirements. Launched in 2008 and formalized in 2019 under Republic Act 11310 or the 4Ps Act, the initiative is touted as DSWD’s flagship poverty reduction and human capital investment program.
