Marcos Reinstates Claire Dennis Mapa as PSA National Statistician



President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reappointed Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa as national statistician and civil registrar general of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). In a news release on Thursday, it was announced that Mapa has been reappointed to his position. Along with this, lawyer Marlo Ignacio Quadra has been designated as president and chief executive officer of the John Hay Management Corp. (JHMC), which is under the Bases Conversion and Development Authority. Mapa, who previously served as the dean of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics, was first appointed to his role in 2019 by former president Rodrigo Duterte. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, two Master’s degrees in Economics, and a PhD in Economics. Quadra, who has previously served on the board of directors at JHMC, will now take on the leadership role at the corporation. Additionally, former president of the Philippine Judges Association and retired Marikina Regional Trial Court judge Felix Reyes has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office by President Marcos. Reyes had previously been serving as a member of the PCSO Board of Directors since November 2022.
