The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) New Registration Unit (NRU) of the Land Transportation Office successfully issued its first motorcycle plate number and RFID sticker last February 16, 2023.
The successful issuance of the plate number and RFID after the operations of the New Registration Unit (NRU) was transferred from the Olongapo District Office to the SBMA Extension Office at the request of LTO Region 3 Regional Director Eduardo De Guzman.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade approved the transfer of the NRU which aims to declog the volume of transactions at the Olongapo District Office. The NRU started its operations at the SBMA EO on February 2, 2023 initially with the registration of used and new motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Before the transfer of the NRU, the SBMA only handled the registration of imported used motor vehicles with an average of 100 transactions per day since it opened in 2019.
