MANILA — The true spirit of freedom was celebrated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday, in honor of the Philippines’ 126th Independence Day on June 12.

In a statement, Marcos highlighted the perseverance of Filipinos in their daily struggles, emphasizing the resilience of farmers and fisherfolks, the dedication of teachers, and the tenacity of soldiers in protecting the nation.

Reflecting on the declaration of Philippine independence in Kawit, Cavite 126 years ago, Marcos praised the unwavering resolve of Filipinos to govern their own destiny as a sovereign nation.

“As we mark another year of independence, we continue to stand united, upholding the hard-earned liberty passed down to us by our ancestors,” Marcos stated.
