Government declares June 17 as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha

In observance of the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice or Eid’l Adha, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared June 17 as a regular holiday throughout the country. The proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, was made following the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos in accordance with the 1445 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

The holiday, which falls on the tenth day of the final month of the Islamic calendar, is one of the two important feasts in Islam. The declaration of June 17, 2024, as a regular holiday aims to allow Muslims in the Philippines to observe and celebrate Eid’l Adha.
