Health officials in the Philippines have reported a slight increase in dengue cases, urging the public to intensify efforts to combat the mosquito-borne disease. After a period of stable numbers, cases rose by approximately 10 percent in early June. Since January, the country has recorded 77,867 cases and 205 deaths, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa emphasized the importance of community action and called on local governments to lead efforts against mosquito-breeding grounds. The Department of Health continues to promote its ‘4S’ strategy: Search and destroy breeding sites, Self-protection measures, Seeking early consultation, and Supporting targeted fogging in outbreak areas. Officials also stressed the need for vigilance and collective action during the rainy season to prevent a more severe outbreak.
