Coast Guard saves injured Chinese seafarer



A Chinese seafarer was assisted by the Philippine Coast Guard after accidentally cutting off his left thumb while at sea. The incident occurred on the Hongkong-flagged bulk carrier MV BBG Qinzhou, which was en route to Tanjung Bara, Indonesia. The 35-year-old seafarer experienced significant pain and required hospital treatment after being cut by a fan blade or metal. The PCG coordinated with the vessel’s captain and agent to deploy medical personnel to provide first aid before transporting the seafarer to a hospital. The operation took place off the waters of Caluya, Antique, with the vessel located approximately 20.69 nautical miles west of Semirara Port.
