BOI Establishes Partnership with Taiwan Cold Chain Industry Through MOU

The Board of Investments (BOI), the government’s premier investment promotion and generation agency, is set to collaborate with the Taiwan Cold Chain Association (TCCA) to establish a more advanced and sustainable cold chain industry in the Philippines.

During a visit from August 23rd to 25th, a delegation from the BOI met with top Taiwanese logistics firms, including the chairmen of Evergreen International Storage and Transport Corporation and Evergreen Logistics Corporation, as well as the president of YES Liberal Logistics Corporation, Advantech Company Ltd., and RD&D Cold Logistics Company.

The BOI Group, headed by Governor Marjorie O. Ramos-Samaniego and Director Raquel B. Echague of the Resource-Based Industries Service, also held discussions with the TCCA, led by Chairman Freezer Lin, along with the Department of Commerce – Ministry of Economic Affairs and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to explore areas of collaboration for the development of the cold chain industry.

Taiwan’s advanced cold chain solutions and state-of-the-art supply chain systems, along with their collaborations with other economies, have prompted discussions on creating a memorandum of understanding for capacity building in cold chain solutions for Filipino personnel. Other areas of cooperation include sharing best practices, developing norms and standards, and connecting Taiwanese cold chain investors with Filipino partners for potential investment opportunities in the Philippines.

Echague emphasized that collaboration between key stakeholders from both economies is crucial to transforming the Philippines into a hub for smart cold chain and logistics services in Asia by 2028.
