Trillanes accuses ex-President Duterte and Bong Go of plunder and graft

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV Files Plunder Case Against Former President Duterte and Senator Bong Go

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has officially filed a complaint for plunder against former President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bong Go at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday.

Trillanes alleges that Duterte and Go were involved in corrupt practices, specifically in awarding more than a hundred government contracts to companies owned by Go’s father and brother, totaling at least P6.6 billion.

Trillanes stated, “All the elements of plunder are clearly present in this case. Mr. Bong Go, in conspiracy with Mr. Duterte, used his position, authority, and influence to secure billions worth of government projects for his family, unduly enriching themselves. The evidence presented in the complaint is compelling and warrants a plunder charge.”

In addition to plunder, Duterte and Go are also accused of violating Republic Act No. 3019 (The Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) and Republic Act No. 6713 (The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees).

According to the complaint, from 2007 to 2018, Go’s father and brother’s companies allegedly received P6.6 billion worth of contracts without the required contractors’ license for large-scale projects.

INQUIRER.net has reached out to the camp of former President Duterte and Go for a response but has not received one as of posting time.
