Nineteen LGUs in Caraga region win 2023 ADAC Performance Awards

A total of 19 local government units (LGUs) in the Caraga region have been recognized as awardees in the 2023 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards. The awards night is scheduled to take place on Nov. 22 in Quezon City, as announced by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Under the theme “Bayang May Pinag-isa ng Diwa Laban sa Iligal na Droga” (One Nation with the Spirit of Unity Against Illegal Drugs), the 19 winning LGUs include municipalities and cities from Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.

The DILG stated that this year’s theme reflects the consolidated effort of LGUs, private sector partners, civil society organizations (CSOs), and national government agencies (NGAs) in the fight against illegal drugs. The theme is aligned with the message of “unity” from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

The ADAC Performance Awards aims to recognize the best-performing local ADACs that comply with prescribed functionality indicators and implement anti-illegal drug interventions and initiatives to reduce drug abuse in their areas of jurisdiction.

In the Caraga region, 62 LGUs earned a High ADAC Functionality score, while 16 LGUs received a Moderate ADAC Functionality score. No LGUs in Caraga received a Low ADAC Functionality score.

The ADAC Performance Audit is part of the umbrella program of Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) of DILG in the implementation of Executive Order No. 66: “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS).”

The DILG stated in a press release that the ADAC Performance Audit results also serve as indicators under the Safety, Peace, and Order Governance Area (SPOG) of the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). It aims to ensure continuous improvement in the performance of ADACs in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of anti-illegal drug activities in the country.
