In 2024, Taal Volcano records its lowest sulfur dioxide emission level

In a recent report by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), it was stated that Taal Volcano in Batangas province emitted the lowest volume of harmful gas so far this year. Specifically, only 1,454 metric tons (MT) of sulfur dioxide (SO2) was measured coming from the volcano’s main crater over the course of the past 24 hours. This decrease in harmful gas emission is a positive development for the region and its residents.
