Angara and Marcos talk about solutions for education

In a recent meeting, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara shared insights from a conversation with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. regarding the education sector. The president inquired about Angara’s plans for the DepEd during an informal interview after a concert at Malacañang.

Angara pledged to address teacher overloading by offering items for non-teaching personnel to alleviate the burden on teachers. He also expressed his commitment to follow the policy direction set by Congress on K-12 education.

President Marcos emphasized the need to improve low scores in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and enhance the curriculum. The new DepEd chief received endorsements from key educational organizations, including the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations and the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities.

Lawmakers applauded Marcos’ decision to appoint Angara, citing the senator’s credentials and expertise in education. They expressed optimism about enhanced cooperation between the government and educational institutions under Angara’s leadership at DepEd.
