Government Services Worth P699 Million Extended to 135,000 Beneficiaries in Tawi-Tawi

In a recent announcement, House of Representatives Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez revealed that some P699 million worth of government services and assistance have been delivered to 135,000 beneficiaries in Tawi-Tawi province. These services and programs were provided through the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF), which took place at the DepEd Culture and Sports Complex in Bongao town.

Speaker Romualdez expressed his satisfaction that the government, under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., was able to reach Tawi-Tawi in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). He emphasized the importance of unity in reaching remote areas like Tawi-Tawi, highlighting the government’s commitment to serving all regions, including Mindanao.

Over 40 national government agencies participated in delivering 199 services to the beneficiaries, with P319 million of the total aid being distributed as cash assistance. This included payments to 100,000 residents through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (DSWD-AICS) program.

Furthermore, programs like the Start-up, Incentives, Business Opportunity and Livelihood (SIBOL) program and the Integrated Scholarship and Incentives for the Youth (ISIP for the Youth) Program were launched during the event. The SIBOL Program aims to stimulate start-up businesses as a solution to poverty, while the ISIP for the Youth program assists financially challenged students in pursuing quality education.

In addition to cash aid and rice distribution, students in Tawi-Tawi will benefit from financial aid through the DSWD’s AICS program and the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) of the Commission on Higher Education.

This event marked the 18th BPSF and the seventh held in Mindanao. Plans are in place to visit more provinces nationwide as part of the government’s commitment to providing services and assistance to all regions. The BPSF in Tawi-Tawi was hosted by Governor Yshmael I. Sali and Rep. Dimszar Sali.
