Thirdy Ravena crowned as ‘Asia Player of the Year’ in Japan’s B.League

A Filipino basketball player has made history by becoming the first-ever Asia Player of the Year in Japan’s B. League. Thirdy Ravena, who was also the first Filipino import in the B. League, was honored with the prestigious award at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Ravena expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Thank you, B. League. From being the first non-Japanese Asian in the league to receiving this award, it’s definitely a full-circle moment for me.” The former UAAP MVP led San-en NeoPhoenix to a third-place finish in the regular season and clinched the Central Conference title with impressive stats.

After four seasons with the NeoPhoenix, Ravena is now a free agent but remains thankful to his team, family, friends, teammates, sponsors, and most importantly, God for his achievements. Looking ahead, Ravena is expected to attract interest from multiple B. League squads as he decides on his next career move.
