Suzuki and Abalos emerge victorious in Luzon Series I golf tournament



Ryuji Suzuki and Maurysse Abalos emerged victorious in the Junior Philippine Golf Tour Luzon Series held at the Splendido Taal Golf Club. Suzuki won the 8-10 age category with a score of 79, while Abalos secured a thrilling victory with a score of 95.

Despite blowing a six-shot lead, Suzuki maintained his composure and clinched a one-stroke victory in the boys’ division. His 36-hole total of 157 was enough to secure the win over Jose Luis Espinosa, who finished in second place with a score of 158. Kevin Tecson finished third with a score of 196.

In the girls’ division of the youngest age category, Abalos overcame challenges to secure a four-stroke victory with a score of 95. She expressed her delight at winning the tournament, marking her first accomplishment for the year.

The tournament, organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc., aims to promote the sport and discover new talents through its country-wide circuit. The top four players in each division after the Luzon swing will qualify for the JPGT Match Play Championship at The Country Club in October.

In the older age categories, Race Manhit maintained his lead in the boys’ division, while Precious Zaragosa and Zachary Villaroman dominated in the girls’ and boys’ 15-18 categories, respectively. Jiwon Lee also claimed a commanding lead in the girls’ division.

The tournament showcased the skills and determination of young golfers, setting the stage for exciting competitions in the future.
