Senators Conduct Inspection of AMTC

Pasay City – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) welcomed the scheduled ocular inspection of six senators as well as members of the media on 6 February 2023, at the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) as part of the Senate Committee on Public Services’ inquiry on the 1 January 2023 air traffic disruption.

Sen. Grace Poe, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Services, was joined by Senate President Miguel Zubiri, Sen. JV Ejercito, Sen. Joel Villanueva, Sen. Raffy Tulfo, and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.

The inspection was led by CAAP Director General (DG) Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Deputy Director General for Operations (DDGO) Captain Edgardo Diaz, Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA) Atty. Danjun Lucas, Air Traffic Service (ATS) Chief Marlene Singson, and Air Navigation Service (ANS) Acting Chief Alex Balde. The inspection allowed the lawmakers to see the critical equipment of the ATMC facility and enabled them to have an overview of how the whole CNS/ATM works.

“The CAAP wants to be proactive in helping resolve the issues within the country’s air traffic management system. We gladly welcome our senators to hopefully shed more light as to what happened on New Year’s Day. We believe that this collaborative activity allowed our honorable senators to see the areas of improvement that the CAAP and the Senate can work on together,” said DG Tamayo.
