Senate Spouses Lead Relief Operations in Paeng-Hit Maguindanao

The Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. (SSFI) headed to Cotabato City on Sunday, to deliver relief goods to five hundred families affected by Tropical Storm Paeng.

The activity was headed by SSFI President Audrey Tan Zubiri, wife of Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri. She was joined by SSFI members Tootsy Angara, wife of Sen. Sonny Angara, and Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, wife of Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

“Paeng may have already left weeks ago, but the affected communities still need help, especially here in Maguindanao,” said Zubiri.

“That’s why we really wanted to come here and deliver aid to the families who are still trying to rebuild their lives and their homes after Paeng.”

At the 6th Infantry Division Kampilan Diversion Gymnasium in Cotabato City, the SSFI turned over their donation of hygiene kits and yero (corrugated roofing sheets) to the local officials, for distribution to affected families in Maguindanao del Norte.

“Because the SSFI is a family-oriented foundation, we wanted to provide materials to help our people rebuild their homes and protect their loved ones,” Zubiri said.

“And we wanted to help them protect their health, with basic supplies like soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and sanitary napkins. Hopefully, our donations will help our people regain a sense of normalcy and security.”

The SSFI were received by Maguindanao del Norte Gov. Bai Fatima Ainee Sinsuat, Mayor Datu Lester Sinsuat of the Municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Mayor Datu Marshall Sinsuat of the Municipality of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Mayor Bruce Matabalao of Cotabato City, Mayor Sohria Bansil Guro of the Municipality of Matanog, Board Member Ahmil Hussein A. Macapendeg, MP Rasul Enderez Ismael, MGen. Roy Galido, Col. Eric Macaambac, Cdr. Atty. Suharto Ambolodto, and the barangay captains of the municipalities of Upi, Datu Odin Sinsuat, and Datu Blah Sinsuat.
