RPOC 10 Kicks Off 1st QM via Face-to-Face, Intensifies Link Among Partners

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Mar. 31 – The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC)-10 kicked off its first Quarter Full Council Meeting via face-to-face — the first physical meeting conducted since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The activity started with an oath-taking of P/BGEN Lawrence B. Coop as the newly-installed Vice Chairperson of the RPOC who took an oath before RPOC Head Secretariat and DILG 10 Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko and RPOC Chairperson Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo.

The RPOC took up a full agenda, among which are presentations from the members of the Special Action Committees (SACs) highlighting their respective areas of concern and plans for CY 2023.

In his message, RPOC Chair Romualdo expressed that the council will be strengthened with support from partner agencies and the local government units (LGUs). Moreover, he looks forward to working with the council for CY 2023-2025.

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀

The DILG, as the head secretariat of the council, seeks to assist the Chairperson in the conduct of meetings and sessions as well as the provision of technical and administrative assistance in the performance of the RPOC.

Meanwhile, RD Suyko presented the resolutions on the Reorganization of the RPOC, Composition of SAC, Composition of the RPOC 10, and Schedule of the Quarterly Meetings — among others.

With the occurrence of Cybercrime issues in the region, Director Suyko also suggested including the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) as one of the members of the SAC on Anti-Criminality, which was duly seconded by Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M. Unabia.
For her part, DILG Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga, representing RD Suyko, discussed the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) 17 target barangays in Northern Mindanao

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀

The meeting served as a platform for the members of the Special Action Committees (SAC) to thresh out issues and concerns occurring from their respective call of duties as well as determine possible solutions as well as arrive at a collective decision.

In attendance were the SAC members which include the Public Safety, Anti-Criminality, Anti-Insurgency, and Violent Extremism, and the Regional Inter-Agency Taskforce on Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The RPOC ended with RD Suyko reiterating the message of Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr., who assured the public that the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and LGUs across the country would be on ‘full alert status’ during the observation of the Holy Week.
