Richard Gomez, Representative of Leyte, reports receiving death threats

Leyte Representative Receives Threats to His Life

Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez has recently claimed that he has received threats to his life, but he has stated that he has no plans to increase his security measures. Despite acknowledging the threats, Gomez did not disclose who he believed was behind them.

During a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on May 20, Gomez mentioned the threats, prompting the President to inquire about them and how they could be mitigated. Gomez, who represents Leyte’s fourth district, clarified that he did not seek assistance from the President regarding the threats.

President Marcos Jr. was in Tacloban City for an event where he distributed land titles to over 5,400 farmers. Gomez, who sat beside the President during the event, is expected to run for a second term as a congressional representative in the upcoming elections.
