PRI, JICA Banner Accomplishments, Reveal Plans and Initiatives in the 6th JCC

The Philippine Railways Institute (PRI) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) gathered Tuesday, 21 February, for the 6th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting at the LRTA Command Center in Pasay City to review the technical assistance project progress and discuss initiatives and ways forward.

JICA Senior Director for Infrastructure Management Mr. Ono Tomohiro opened the meeting by highlighting the strong cooperation between the DOTr and JICA towards a sustainable railway operation and maintenance. Embassy of Japan’s First Secretary for Economic Affairs Mr. Kudo Hiroyuki, for his part, complimented the harmonious relationship between the two countries when it comes to railways.

PRI Technical Assistance Project Manager Mr. Hagiwara Takayuki presented the progress of the project and the updates on the JICA Technical Assistance, while Undersecretary Anneli Lontoc, Officer-in-Charge of the PRI, highlighted the PRI’s initiatives and set the direction moving forward.

More programs are expected in the technical assistance project as the project duration had been extended up to July 2024. Among the things to look for are the full utilization of PRI training equipment and facilities in the soon-to-open PRI building, research and development initiatives for the railway sector, and digitization of PRI’s services.
