PNP Welcomes the New Press Officer and Publicist

PNP Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr. has designated Police Colonel Redrico A Maranan to his Personal Staff as Chief of the PNP Public Information Office (PIO).

Maranan replaced Police Brigadier General Roderick Augustus B Alba who was reassigned as Regional Director of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas.

As Chief PIO, Maranan will serve the functions as publicist and mouthpiece of the PNP on information matters and other strategic mass communication concerns of the PNP.

He is also responsible for implementing the PNP Media Relations Policy of upholding the citizen’s right to information on matters of public interest thru a policy of rational transparency in all police activities.

Maranan is a member of the illustrious Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Patnubay” Class 1995. He also holds graduate degrees in Management major in Development and Security and Business Administration in Wesleyan University.
Since his appointment to the PNP in 1995, he has held various command, staff and training assignments in different levels of the organization, mostly in operating and line units.

Before assuming the new post, Maranan was Deputy District Director for Operations of the Quezon City Police District. He briefly served as Chief of Staff of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group in 2021, and held other command positions as PNP Provincial Director of Pangasinan and Chief of Police of Marikina City, Chief of Police of Imus and Bacoor, Cavite and Company Commander of the Cavite Provincial Mobile Force Company.

He also served in various capacities as a field grade officer in the Aviation Security Group, Police Regional Office CALABARZON, Southern Police District, Cebu City Police Office and Police Regional Office 5 in the Bicol Region.

Maranan also received formal training on various police specializations in intelligence, drug law enforcement, incident management, aircraft operations, bomb investigation, human rights, hostage negotiation, and police tactical skills.
