President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday praised overseas Filipinos in Europe for their dedication, generosity and kindness, all of which contribute to why Filipinos are highly regarded overseas.
The President made this remark in his meeting with the Filipino community in Brussels, Belgium, where he vowed to bolster the country’s economic institutions and create more jobs so Filipinos do not need to leave their families back home for greener pastures abroad.
“The Filipino community organizations here in Europe continue to maintain deep and growing friendships with people of different nations. Filipinos in this part of the world will continue to be highly regarded because of your jolly and high-spirited manner, hard work, your dedication,” the President said in a speech.
“Kinahahangaan kayo ng mga locals, lahat ng mga katrabaho ninyo, lahat ng mga nakilala ninyo, sinasabi na ang galing talaga ng mga Pilipino,” the President pointed out.
Through the government’s eight-point socioeconomic agenda, President Marcos said his administration is on track to create more quality jobs by investing heavily in human capital development, infrastructure and the digital economy.
“Kaya’t sana naman dumating ang panahon, at ito ang ating pangarap na wala nang kailangan umalis ng Pilipinas dahil walang mahanap na trabaho sa Pilipinas. Aabutin din natin ‘yan,” said the President.
The President is on a three-day trip to Brussels for his participation at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-European Union (ASEAN-EU) commemorative summit.
According to President Marcos, the ASEAN-EU summit serves as an important opportunity for the Philippines to bolster its relations with Europe and push for development cooperation with various countries.
The President will have an audience with King Philippe of Belgium where the two leaders are expected to talk about expanding cooperation between Manila and Brussels.
“In this visit, I will have a Royal Audience with King Philippe, and I will be happy to share with him that the Philippines and Belgium have just commemorated 76 years of bilateral relationships this year. Our relations remain strong and vibrant,” said the President.
The chief executive is also set to hold 10 bilateral meetings with leaders from Belgium, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands and the European Union.
Apart from Belgium, Filipinos who attended the Filipino community event came all the way from Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
