PAF Strengthens Cooperation With Us Military Through MDB-SEB 2022

The Commanding General Philippine Air Force LTGEN CONNOR ANTHONY D CANLAS SR PAF participated in the annual Mutual Defense Board-Security Engagement Board (MDB-SEB) Meeting which aimed to ensure continued, robust relations between the U.S. and Philippine militaries at Camp H.M. Smith, #hawaii on September 27, 2022.

MDB-SEB Meeting 2022 was co-chaired by LTGEN BARTOLOME VICENTE O BACARRO PA, Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) and ADM JOHN C AQUILINO USN, Commander, Indo-Pacific Command (#USINDOPACOM). LTGEN CANLAS SR represented the Philippine Air Force during the MDB-SEB Plenary. Meanwhile, Admiral John Aquilino, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Chief, led the U.S. delegation. The meeting highlighted the bilateral preparations between the two militaries focusing on exercises, training, and capability-building in countering terrorism and transnational crime, cyber security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and other national security interest issues. On the sides of the board meeting, LTGEN CANLAS SR also engaged GEN. KENNETH WILSBACH, Commander of PACAF, to further strengthen Philippine Air Force-U.S. Pacific Air Forces relations.

The Philippine and U.S. militaries agreed to over 500 activities to be completed by 2023. These activities, whether conducted on land, sea, or air, recognizes the role of air power, therefore making the PAF a significant contributor to their accomplishment. Through this, the PAF assures its active participation, be it by air, land or sea, in joint and bilateral/ combined exercises with our allies to further develop its capabilities and strengthen its relationship with counterparts.

The MDB was established in 1958 while the SEB was established in 2006. The two boards form the framework which directs and enables defense and security cooperation between the U.S. and the Philippine forces.
