New Parallel Bridge Improves Mobility in Negros Occidental

A newly-constructed 2-lane parallel bridge built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now facilitates better access between Negros Occidental towns.

DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno in her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that the 375-meter parallel bridge complements the existing 2-lane Ilog Bridge 1 along Bacolod South Road in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City.

“The new bridge leads to southern areas of the province, specifically to Sipalay City and the towns of Cauayan, Candoni, and Hinobaan, interconnecting through the boundary of Ilog. The existing bridge, on the other hand, will provide access to motorists from southern Negros to Bacolod City and other northbound towns,” added Director Bueno.

With Ilog Bridge considered as the primary road access to the city and other towns of the province, the additional bridge will reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility for travelers going from southern to northern Negros and vice versa.

Undertaken by DPWH Regional Office 6, other works on the new Ilog Parallel Bridge project include construction of slope protection, application of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, provision of railings, curb and gutter, wing wall, and installation of solar LED lights.
