The Republic Act No. 11934 known as the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Registration Act aims to uplift accountability on subscribers for their usage of mobile communications by mandating SIM registration.
National Telecommunications Commission Deputy Commissioner Jon Paulo Salvanan said in the Press briefing that starting tomorrow, all sim cards for sale to the public shall have a default deactivated mode and can only be used for registration purposes. Once registered, it is the only time the sim may be used for its usual purpose.
