Marcos claims photos with Alice Guo do not provide evidence

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dismissed the significance of his photos with Bamban Mayor Alice Guo amidst controversy surrounding her citizenship and alleged ties to an offshore gaming operator. Guo shared pictures of her and Marcos after he claimed not to know her, with additional photos from a campaign event in 2022 also emerging.

Marcos shrugged off the photos, stating, “That proves nothing. You know how many pictures I take during the campaign period, maybe a thousand in a day.” He previously mentioned that local politicians in Tarlac were unaware of Guo before her election victory.

In response to questions about Guo’s background and alleged involvement in POGO activities, human trafficking, and surveillance, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recommended a preventive suspension for her. The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) announced the formation of a special team to investigate the allegations against Guo and determine if she is unlawfully holding a public office.

Guo’s identity and alleged connections to illegal activities came under scrutiny during a Senate hearing led by Senator Risa Hontiveros regarding an online gambling hub in Bamban.
