The construction of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 is nearing completion, with a 98.2% progress rate, and is on track to open commercially in the fourth quarter of 2024. This extension will add 6.2 kilometers to the existing LRT-1 system, connecting Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Paranaque City.

The general manager of Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), Enrico Benipayo, expressed gratitude to Secretary Bautista for visiting the project site and the support from the Department of Transportation (DOTr). Benipayo also acknowledged the efforts of contractors Bouygues and Alstom, as well as the entire LRMC team in making this infrastructure project a reality.

DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista commended LRMC and its partner contractors for the progress on five new stations, including Redemptorist, MIA, Asia World, Ninoy Aquino, and Dr. Santos Station. These new stations aim to improve connectivity in southern Metro Manila.

During a recent high-level site inspection, government officials and representatives from various agencies witnessed the development of the new stations. Paranaque City officials highlighted the convenience that these new stations will bring to commuters in the area.

The new stations will feature amenities such as elevators, escalators, tactile paving for visually impaired passengers, real-time passenger information systems, breastfeeding rooms, and 24/7 CCTV monitoring. Dr. Santos Station will serve as a major transit hub with an intermodal facility for various modes of transportation.

Benipayo emphasized that the completion of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 showcases the effectiveness of public-private partnerships in improving public transportation. LRMC is committed to providing a safe and passenger-centric commuting experience for all passengers.
