Chinese-German artist LIA LIA releases her new EP ‘Angst’
LIA LIA has released her highly-anticipated new EP ‘Angst.’ The project reveals a new depth to LIA LIA’s songwriting, combining classical elements with hypermodern internet cultures and blistering punk riffs. Co-produced in Los Angeles by Jeremey Zucker, the EP embodies the core theme of her journey towards authenticity and individuality.
LIA LIA describes ‘Angst’ as a rebellion against anxiety, depression, and sickness. The artist is tired of being tired and sad and just wants to have fun. She emphasizes that while she can’t erase all the melancholy from her music, her lyrics are a gateway to her soul and she can’t hide anything.
Over the past 12 months, the Berlin-based artist has garnered a diverse, global fanbase, sparking meaningful discussions around identity and empowering listeners to explore their emotions. Growing up across cultures in China and Germany has given LIA LIA the unique ability to connect with fans worldwide. Her recent release, ‘Am i human,’ led to interviews on major radio stations and millions of views on her songs.
The EP follows 2022’s ‘Love & Melancholy’ EP, which received critical acclaim and support from publications such as Nylon, Vogue, PAPER, Gorilla vs Bear, Clash, and NME. LIA LIA has also made an impact in the fashion world, collaborating on campaigns for brands like Louis Vuitton and New Balance. Renowned fashion designer Clara Colette Miramon, who has worked with top artists like Doja Cat and Tinashe, has contributed to LIA LIA’s visual aesthetics.
The artist has also showcased her talent on stage, supporting Doja Cat in Germany and opening for Duran Duran’s UK arena tour. Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon even praised LIA LIA as a superstar, describing her song “I’m a Moth” as a classic.
