Lawmaker backs push for BIR to increase revenue collections

Lawmaker Supports Speaker’s Call for Higher Revenue Collections

A lawmaker has voiced support for House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s request for the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to increase its revenue collections. House Deputy Majority Leader and TINGOG Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre emphasized the importance of improving tax collection to fund government projects.

Acidre also highlighted the role of the House and Congress in assisting the BIR, especially with the passage of the Ease of Paying Taxes Act. He stated, “We are doing everything we can to support BIR and its revenue collection initiatives to make paying our taxes easier.”

This statement comes in the context of efforts to boost revenue collections and enhance tax compliance in the country. The BIR has been adopting digital systems to track the supply and distribution of products like cigarettes. Romualdez has also called for stricter measures against non-performing tax collectors.

The push for higher revenue collections is seen as crucial for funding government programs and services. By strengthening tax collection efforts, the government aims to ensure sustainable funding for various initiatives that benefit the public.
