DEVELOPMENT POLICY RESEARCH MONTH

Join the Various Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) Activities This September

The Philippine Institute For Development Studies (PIDS) leads the nation in celebrating the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) every September by virtue of Malacañang Proclamation 247 issued in 2002.

The DPRM highlights the critical role of policy research in nation-building. It also aims to cultivate a strong culture of research and the use of data and evidence in policy making and planning.

Through the different topics highlighted in every DPRM celebration, it also intends to raise the public’s literacy of important socioeconomic issues.

With this year’s theme “#CloseTheGap: Accelerate Post-pandemic Recovery through Social Justice”, PIDS and its partners wish to highlight how the pandemic exacerbated existing socioeconomic disparities in the country and disproportionately affected the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society.

Hence, to make opportunities equitable, reduce socioeconomic and political inequalities, and remove cultural inequities, we must make social justice a guiding principle of the country’s post-pandemic recovery plan, particularly in three areas: human capital development and social protection, public health services and infrastructure, and environmental resilience.
