JBC initiates selection process for CA and Sandiganbayan positions

The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is currently accepting applications and recommendations for associate justice positions in the Court of Appeals (CA) and the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan. According to a recent notice by the JBC, the post of CA Associate Justice Victoria Isabel Paredes will soon be vacant as she is set to compulsorily retire on July 1. Similarly, Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Edwin Sorongon will compulsorily retire on Nov. 8.

Interested individuals can access the JBC Online Registration and Application System through the Philippine Judiciary Platform and submit their applications online until August 12. Applicants will undergo screening and verification to ensure the completeness and accuracy of their documentary requirements within two working days.

For those who prefer to send their documents through registered mail or private courier, it is important to ensure that all requirements are complete, updated, and received by the JBC. Applicants must also send a copy of the mailing receipt via email on the same day.

The JBC has specified that all applicants, excluding incumbent justices, must have undergone, completed, and passed the Pre-Judicature Program for Appellate Courts of the Philippine Judicial Academy.
