Increase investigation on Pogos in upscale communities, Villanueva urges DILG

Senator Urges DILG to Investigate Alleged Presence of Illegal Pogos in Exclusive Subdivisions

Senator Joel Villanueva has called on the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to take action regarding the increasing reports of suspected illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) presence in exclusive subdivisions.

During a press conference, Villanueva revealed that his office has been receiving numerous reports and complaints about Pogos operating in these areas.

“The DILG should step up its game and, if necessary, walk the extra mile in addressing this issue,” Villanueva emphasized.

He cited specific complaints from residents about luxury cars entering and exiting their villages, as well as noisy activities coming from certain residences suspected to be involved in Pogo operations.

Villanueva expressed concerns over the impact of these illegal activities on the peace and security of the communities, stressing that proactive measures from DILG are crucial in addressing the problem.

While some senators have recommended a complete ban on Pogos in the country, Villanueva highlighted the need for immediate action to prevent further issues associated with the illegal operations of these entities.

He also mentioned the possibility of filing a resolution on the matter if necessary, underscoring the urgency of addressing the root cause of the problem – the existence of illegal Pogos.
