Improved Manila North Road Aids Motorists in La Union

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated smoother and safer travel of motorists and commuters along Manila North Road in San Fernando City, La Union.

According to DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, they have undertaken the development of the section of Manila North Road in Barangay Pennsylvania-Parian Road and Barangay Sevilla in an effort to speed up vehicular flow and decongest traffic on road intersection.

A total of P19.6-million was allotted under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the project that involved asphalt overlay, installation of stainless safety barriers, and landscaping.

The DPWH La Union 1st District Engineering Office has also installed solar street lights and two (2) additional pedestrian lanes to protect pedestrians crossing Barangay Pennsylvania-Parian Road.

“The improved road can now handle the present traffic volume in the city, allowing for faster transportation of farm products and promoting local economic development,” added Director Tan.
