Government agencies instructed to incorporate ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ anthem and pledge during flag ceremonies

Malacañang has instructed national government agencies and local government units (LGUs) to incorporate the recitation of the “Bagong Pilipinas” hymn and pledge into their weekly flag ceremonies.

According to Memorandum Circular 52 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 4, the goal is to reinforce the principles of the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership among Filipinos. The circular was made public on Sunday.

The directive applies to all national government agencies, government-owned corporations, educational institutions, and LGUs. They are tasked with ensuring that the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and pledge are promoted within their organizations.

Additionally, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has been assigned to facilitate the dissemination of the hymn and pledge to all government agencies and the general public.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. previously mandated in July 2023 for national government agencies to embrace the “Bagong Pilipinas” governance slogan in their initiatives. The slogan advocates for comprehensive policy reforms and economic recovery, promoting a principled and accountable government.

The Bagong Pilipinas concept is reminiscent of the “Bagong Lipunan” vision by the president’s late father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. During Martial Law, the elder Marcos aimed to eliminate poverty, corruption, and violence to achieve a new societal order.

Included in the directive are copies of the Bagong Pilipinas hymn and pledge, which are intended to symbolize the government’s commitment to positive change.
