The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the construction of two (2) flyover projects that will soon alleviate traffic congestion and improve land travel for motorists plying the Iloilo Circumferential Road.
In Barangay Jibao-an, Mandurriao, a 240-meter flyover comprising six (6) 40-meter long spans is being undertaken by DPWH Iloilo City District Engineering Office with an allocation of P591.2 million.
According to DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno, Jibao-an Flyover will minimize traffic congestion in the adjacent towns of Pavia and San Miguel to Metro Iloilo, as well as the streets along Mandurriao district.
Likewise, the construction of a 200-meter, five (5)-span flyover is also on-going in Barangay Buhang, Jaro along Circumferential Road-1 crossing Iloilo-Capiz Road (New Route).
Costing P520 million, Buhang Flyover will provide a more convenient way and time saving travel between Iloiloโs neighboring towns and coastal areas which will help develop the local economy of communities in the city.
The Jibao-an and Buhang Flyovers are now 80 and 81 percent completed respectively, with the remaining construction works expected to be finished before the end of the year.
