Just like in his entire career, Eumir Marcial had to overcome great odds to get the win on Sunday.
The Chooks-to-Go ambassador had to buck an early cut to eke out a unanimous decision over American prospect Steven Pichardo at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Early in the second round, an accidental clash of heads resulted in a cut just above the right eye of the 26-year-old native of Zamboanga.
“Mga Manok ng Bayan, kakatapos lang ng laban natin. Medyo deep yung cut natin pero napanalo natin,” Marcial told Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas after getting a five-inch stitch.
Still, the reigning Olympic boxing bronze medalist was able to connect against Pichardo to take the win.
Marcial went up to 3-0 while dropping Pichardo to 8-3-1.
And Marcial is grateful to Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas for continuing to support him in his blossoming pro career.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Chooks-to-Go at kay Boss Ronald dahil nandiyan lagi ang suporta nila sa akin,” said Marcial.
