Drug smuggling attempt worth P13.4 million foiled by BOC at Naia

A parcel containing illegal drugs was seized in Pasay City last June 7, leading to the arrest of an individual from Taguig, as reported by the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

BOC, in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Naia Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, intercepted narcotics worth P13,495,100 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Center Mail Exchange Center.

The package, initially declared as canned food and fruits from Denmark, was consigned to an unnamed individual in Taguig City. The seized drugs included 5,003 pieces of Ecstasy tablets and 998 grams of Ketamine, confirmed through field testing by PDEA.

The claimant is set to face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (Republic Act 10863), according to BOC.
