DPWH Undertakes Road Paving, Widening for Better Mobility in Capiz

Motorists will soon experience improved accessibility and mobility with road upgrades implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the province of Capiz.

The concreting of the 6.7-kilometer Dayao-Libas-Culasi road, which traverses Barangay IV, Barangay Libas, and Barangay Culasi is currently underway in Roxas City.

The road project will enhance delivery of products and services, reduce transport cost, and boost the province’s tourism industry as it serves as an alternate route for travelers coming from the second district of Capiz to Culasi Seaport.

With an allocation of P56.2 million, the multi-year Dayao-Libas-Culasi Road Project began in 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2023.
Meanwhile, DPWH Capiz 1st District Engineering Office has finished widening a 2.3-kilometer section along Cuartero-Tapulang-Maayon Junction Road in Barangays Pina and Salgan, Maayon.

The road expansion is seen to help mitigate traffic congestion in the area and ensure the safety of motorists plying the national road, which is a major route going through Capiz.

The P49 million road widening project consists of stone masonry, metal guardrails, drainage works, and thermoplastic pavement markings, funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
